This excellent Study Trip Abroad is designed to give your students a great educational experience in Greece, North Macedonia and Bulgaria. Take part in this spanning educational tour that focuses on exploring Greece with extra stops at the FYROM & Bulgaria as well. Your exploration of Greece begins with a focus on the gorgeous capital city of Athens.
During your stay you will tour some of the most famous ancient sites of the city that range from the Acropolis, Parthenon, Temple of Zeus and countless other landmark sites. Accustom yourself to the Greek culture by discovering the rich history as it mingles with the modern-day culture before venturing out of the city and exploring Greece at-large.
Along the way you will encounter sights, visited by this study tour to Greece, of magnificent history and mythology, mixed with a breathtaking natural landscape that is peppered with natural springs, gorges, and spanning vistas. Among these stops you will encounter small-town Greek culture with picturesque white houses and a calming atmosphere that coexists with the numerous ancient temples, palaces, sanctuaries, and mythological birthplaces and homes of Greek mythology.
Aside from your tour of Greece, you will make short excursions into the North Macedonia and Bulgaria to witness the gorgeous sites and surroundings that range from breathtaking expansiveness to quaint and charming. Day 1: Athens
Arrival at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos Int’l Airport. Start of the ” Study Trip Abroad – Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria “. Transfer to Hotel Philippos, centrally located near the Acropolis and the Plaka area. Afternoon at leisure. Our study tour in Greece starts with a welcome dinner in Plaka area. Overnight.
Day 2: Athens
A guided tour of the Acropolis (Parthenon, Temple of Athena Nike, Erachtion and the new Acropolis Museum, Theatre of Dionysos, Theatre of Herodes Atticus,Temple of Olympian Zeus and Agora, where Socrates held philosophical discussions with the Athenians. Also view the where St.Paul preached. Afternoon at leisure to visit the Benaki Museum. Overnight.
Day 3: Athens – Cape Sounion
Morning at At. 12:00 visit the Archaeological Museum and then drive along the Riviera Attika to Cape Sounion visit the Temple of Poseidon. Dinner in a typical taverna on the way back. Return to Athens. Overnight.
Day 4: Athens – Aegina
After breakfast, transfer to the port of Athens, Piraeus and embark the local ferry for Aegina island. A 1 ½ hr ride. Visit the Temple of Aphaia, the monstarey of St. Nektarius. Lunch. Return to Athens in the afternoon.
Day 5: Athens – Corinth – Mycaene – Nauplion
Start the coach tour to Peloponnese, mainland and Northern Greece part of our Study Trip Abroad-Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria. Visit the site on Ancient Corinth, where St. Paul preached to the Corinthians and the museum.
Proceed to Nemea -visit and proceed to Mycaene, the site of king Agamemnon -who led the Greek soldiers in their 10-year siege of Troy – visit the Lions Gate, the Walls, the “beehive” tombs.
Continue to the Nauplion, a pleasant and picturesque seaside town. Afternoon at leisure to explore Nauplion, to climb the 999 steps up to visit the Palamidi Fortress. Overnight.
Day 6: Nauplion – Tyrins – Epidaurus Theatre – Nauplion
In the morning visit Tyrins – the birthplace of Hercules – with its massive Cyclopean walls and fortification. Proceed to Epidaurus Theatre- the best preserve ancient theatre of Greece –where plays are still performed there during the summer. Visit the museum. Lunch en route. Return to Nauplion in the afternoon. Overnight.
Day 7: Nauplion – Sparta – Olympia
After breakfast drive through Peloponnese to Sparta. Visit Mystra with its Byzantine sites. Proceed to beautiful Olympia- the original site of the ancient Olympic games. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Olympia – Patras – Delphi
In the morning visit the museums of Olympia – with the famous statue of Hermes by Praxiteles – the stadium of the first Olympic games, Phidia’s workshop, the Temples of Zeus and Hera. After lunch drive to Patras, Rio, Nafpaktos to Delphi. Dinner. Overnight.
Day 9: Delphi
Visit of the most celebrated and mysterious site of prophecy of Greece. The Oracle of Apollo, the museum, the stadium and theatre. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight.
Day 10: Delphi – Arachova – Delphi
In the morning visit Osios Lucas with its famous monastery with golden frescoes. Stop for lunch at the mountain village of Arachova. Afternoon at leisure in Delphi. Overnight.
Day 11: Delphi – Kalambaka – Meteora
Drive to Kalambaka. Overnight.
Day 12: Kalambaka –Meteora- Kalambaka
After breakfast start to visit the famous ‘hanging monasteries” of Meteora. Overnight.
Day 13: Kalambaka – Ohrid in North Macedonia
Drive through northern Greece to Kastoria. Proceed and cross the border to Ochrid. Overnight.
Day 14: Ohrid
Full day to visit the lake and surroundings. Overnight.
Day 15: Ohrid – Vergina – Veria
Return to Greece and drive to Vergina – the excavations of Philippos of Macedonia. Visit the site. Proceed for overnight in Veria, a charming town on the hill.
Day 16: Veria – Dion – Thessaloniki – Bulgaria
Drive to the ancient ruins of Dion – located on the seaside under the shadow of Mount Olympus –the Mountain of the Gods. Continue for the side trip to Bulgaria, to visit Rila Monastery. Overnight in Blaveograd.
Day 17: Blagoevgrad – Thessaloniki
Visit the famous monstery of Rila. Return to Thessaloniki Overnight.
Day 18: Thessaloniki
Full day tour of the city.
Day 19: Thessaloniki
Full day tour of the city.
Day 20: Thessaloniki – Philippi – Thessaloniki
Full day to Philipi, where St.Paul preached.
Day 21: Thessaloniki – Thermopylae – Athens
Visit the site of the famous battlefield of Thermopylae. Arrive in Athens. Farewell dinner. Overnight.
Day 22: Athens
After breakfast, transfer to Athens Int’l Airport for the return flight back home. End of the Study Trip Abroad – Greece, North Macedonia, Bulgaria.
